The driver is the odd creature that kills the train driver at the start of the base game, which im not all too sure how that works. However the plan fails and the driver dies due to the cowboy (Traitor). The base game has you go towards this objective that is uncertain to the driver (maybe). However this train, which from my understanding shouldn't have existed is now the only hope. The wall was never fully built, and the robot wasen't really ready so the war was already lost.
However not everyone is onboard due to the council either wanting to fight or give up. Some members already know this and put all efforts into the train. The Giant Robot was the only real weapon to face the visitors, which to my understanding are giant creatures that are taller then the robot. Ok so after beating the DLC, some of the questions have been answered.and alot more came up.
